Lewis Brice Celebrates Family In New 'Blessed' Video: Premire

Lewis Brice reflects on family life in his stirring new single "Blessed."

From Billboard: As Lewis Brice reflects on family life in his stirring new single “Blessed,” it’s only fitting that the Nashville transplant returned home to South Carolina to shoot the music video.

The three-minute clip, which premieres below, was filmed in the same location where Brice starred in the video for older brother Lee’s “I Drive Your Truck,” the Academy of Country Music Awards’ 2014 song of the year. The video for “Blessed” features the younger brother sifting through family photo albums and later belting the song’s poignant lyrics in an open field.

“‘Blessed’ is a family song to me,” says Brice, who penned the piano ballad with Nick Norman and Ben Simonetti. “It was inspired by when I was away from home for the first time during Thanksgiving. It was actually a picture of my brother and his family that set off that feeling for me. Being able to capture the moment of singing a song about our family together made total sense to me, and I think it really rounds it out.”

“Blessed” is the first taste of new music since Brice released his debut self-titled EP in 2017. On the strength of such EP tracks as the bluesy “Messin’ With My Mind,” Billboard named Brice a Country Artist to Watch in 2018.

“Blessed” details the singer’s upbringing with parents and Lee, who co-produced Lewis’ 2017 EP.

“Daddy woke up at 5 a.m./ First man on the job/ Momma got me and Lee to school on time/ And she was waiting there at 3 o’clock/ Taught us both how to see right from wrong and how to talk to God/ We didn’t have much but what we had was more than enough,” he sings on the track’s first verse.

“Blessed” offers a taste of what’s to come on Brice’s forthcoming project. The Brice brothers debuted the song via an acoustic video performance the day after Thanksgiving last year.
